these are a few of my favorite things

i have a sweet tooth. okay, that may be a bit of an understatement. i have a sweet tooth that's slightly out of control. i know, sugar is not my friend... but it tastes so good!!! coupled with my love of sugar is my love for entrepreneurs and success stories. this made brandini toffee one of my very favorite things. the story of this candy company is so incredible it just might make the toffee taste even better! a couple of high school students trying to save money for a school trip to italy. that's it, along with belief in the old adage "necessity is the mother of invention." cash for a school trip = necessity. homemade toffee = invention. getting picked up as one of oprah's favorite things? an extremely large feather in your cap!!! but let's face it, you'll buy something once for the kids, for the story, to help out, but you're not going back for more if it's not good. this stuff is good. insanely good. and if the toffee weren't good enough they've now added it to a brownie!!! i think i literally lost my breath the first time i saw them, kind of like the time i parked in front of a store remodel and saw the sign announcing "christian louboutin opening soon" next to my yoga studio. these toffee brownies are like heaven x paradise.
being a fiend for all things homemade i felt a bit of a fraud serving something so simplistic for my christmas dessert. but being "down" for cooking (thank you for the broken wrist, mr. hoverboard, and thank you to my amazing husband for saving christmas dinner) taking the easy way out was my only option for dessert. everyone was beyond impressed and had i not let the cat out of the bag i doubt anyone would have been the wiser. warmed and served with a scoop of vanilla ice cream? heaven on earth!
like everything else in my life i'm trying my best to find balance. sugar, you're on my radar!

xo,
gaye.
