walking streets - ojai avenue, ojai, ca.

i've always loved going to ojai. it's so close and the drive on that stretch of pch is spectacular. i can't get enough of the ojai valley inn! i love to go for a massage and lunch and to lounge by the spa pool. i'm home by early evening and feel like a million bucks! so when the fog rolls in on the coast, ojai is my easy mini getaway. i now think it's katie's, too!

with spring in the air last weekend, the warm weather was the perfect excuse to jump in the car for a day trip to ojai. located just over an hour away from malibu, i quickly fell in love with this quiet little town, which is the perfect place to stroll, shop, and truly relax and recharge. here are a few of my favorite spots...

we started our day with a late breakfast at the farmer and the cook, an organic market and cafe. they are locally famous for their huevos rancheros, but the savory goat cheese scone from their bakery looked too good to pass up!
ojai avenue is a perfect walking street, full of sweet little shops that have a modern, bohemian vibe. some of my favorites were shop summer camp and in the field, which carry a little bit of everything, including amazing and unique home items. off of the main avenue, you'll find hattie, which sells simple yet beautiful clothing, as well as modern folk living and tipple & ramble, two stores that had me craving a home makeover...their spaces were so well curated and inspiring!
for lunch, we grabbed a bite at the hip vegan on the east side of town before wandering over to the ojai vineyard tasting room to relax in the shade and enjoy a refreshing glass of wine. as gaye mentioned, ojai is the perfect place for some pampering. we didn't schedule any spa treatments this time, but i stocked up on quality products from busy babes beauty and face stockholm.

before heading home, i recommend catching the sunset from the vista point at meditation mount, just a few minutes from the heart of town. you'll drive though groves of golden citrus trees to the quiet and serene garden (whispers only!) and watch the sun sink behind the hills surrounding the valley. it is magical and a lovely spot to reflect on a perfect day.
xo,
katie.
