how do you embody kai's "breath * life * flow" lifestyle?
to me, being in the moment is essential to living my fullest, most joyful life. when i'm present, my breathing is steadier, my mood is even, and regardless of life's weather, i am able to cope with what comes my way.
what's the best advice you've ever received?
take off the velvet handcuffs. some of us are limited by these invisible chains we wear, or we think we wear, because the mind can so often play tricks on us. fear. insecurity. doubt. one of my first female mentors in broadcasting told me to take off the velvet handcuffs already and go out and capture the dream i deserve. i can still hear her in my ear today. it's so true!
what's your beauty secret? or must have beauty product?
i'm combatting sun damage these days. i can't live without murad's rapid lightening regimen. i especially love the age spot and pigment lightening serum that has been lightening the freckles and dark spots on my face. my complexion seriously looks lighter, brighter, and more radiant. obsessed.
go-to lipstick color?
i like a natural nude shade to take the pink out of my lips. nars honolulu honey is always in my purse.
what color nail polish are you wearing right now?
urban jungle by essie.
who is your role model?
oprah. beyonce. meryl streep. it's hard to pick a single female because there are so many strong, independent, compassionate women that inspire me every day!
how would you describe your personal style?
i'm a busy working mother of two so i gravitate to chic yet relaxed styles. i tend to live in denim when i'm not on tv. i love super luxe, soft cotton tees and delicate, sexy lingerie underneath. i own heaps of cosabella bras and underwear as i believe what's next to your skin really sets the tone for how you feel each day. when i'm not chasing my kids around or in charge of a carpool, i'm straight to my stilettos. the higher the better.
what do you love most about where you live?
i live in hancock park which is central los angeles. we can get to the beach in twenty minutes, the mountains in a few hours, to koreatown for bbq in five minutes. i appreciate how central we are as my family does get around a lot! i grew up in the midwest and although i do miss the seasons, i will never tire of the relentless sunny days and never ending palm tree-lined streets in southern california.
describe your perfect day.
the perfect day would have to be shared with my two sons and my husband somewhere in the middle of the caribbean sea on a yacht. the adults would feast on chips with guac and queso, raw tuna and salmon, and spicy margaritas. the kids would devour burgers, fries, and milkshakes. we'd nap off and on, swim with sea creatures, fish, and listen to an assortment of the best island tunes. we'd play games and our phones would be nowhere in sight.
favorite date spot?
the tower bar at the sunset tower hotel is timeless, sophisticated, and super sexy. the cuisine is out of this world and the cocktails are some of the best i've ever had.
italy. i could get lost in tuscany for days. horseback riding, montepulciano wine, the most gorgeous terrain i've ever laid eyes on. i would consume every pasta imaginable covered in truffles of course.
i have to pick one? cheese. gruyere.
cheese. every kind.
where do i start? the kai reed diffuser has made a world of difference in my home. the scent is so fresh and clean. i also love the kai body buffer. i have dry skin and this exfoliates my skin perfectly, and also makes it smell delicious. then, the gorgeous kai body lotion. i lather this on all over my body most days. when i want an extra special glow i'll mix a little body makeup with it.
morning person or night owl?
morning person. i put coffee in my coffee, and i love the ritual of starting the day. it's like unwrapping a gift each morning.
eggnog latte. is it too early?!
ideal way to relax/unwind?
very few things relax me more than hot yoga followed by a shower, slipping under the sheets, lighting a kai candle, and playing instrumental piano on my sonos. ahhhhhh.
what book are you currently reading?
all the light we cannot see by anthony doerr.
what's the most adventurous thing you've done?
stripped down to my bra and panties while dancing on a table in a music video playing the "sexy librarian." (eeeek!)
do you have a mantra you live by?
life isn't happening to us, it is reacting to us.
